I host a .com that reviews and rates bars, night clubs, and restaurants. I want to see if I can get college interns(journalism majors) to assist my staff in making reviews.Do you just call the Universities?

To appeal to them however, you should design a program of what duties you want them to perform, so that the professors will see this as a real job opportunity that will teach them skills they can use to find a job after graduation, and not just you getting some free/cheap labor.For instance, they might go along with your reviewers to the restaurants, (youll have to be careful to be sure the interns are old enough to go to bars and nightclubs,) so that they can see the reviewers in action and quantify their reactions as well. After the visit, they might have an opportunity to interview the owners/managers/chefs etc., to add to the reviews. They might help write reviews from the reviewers notes and fact check addresses, phone numbers, hours, cuisine, prices and anything else germaine to your readers. The schools goal is to teach them how it really works so they have meaningful references on their resumes later. If you can mesh that with your labor needs, you have a win-win situation.Since the students will still be going to classes, you will have to be somewhat flexible about the hours they can work, but given the businesses you are reviewing that shouldnt be a problem. Expect them to be available 10-15 hours per week, and the internship should last at least 6 weeks to as long as a semester, about 12 twelve weeks.You may be able to have them work for free, or you may have to pay them at least minimum wage, thats something you will have to work out with the school.Perhaps midway through the internship and certainly at the end, expect to spend some time with the intern to tell them how they performed and how they could do better in some tasks. Expect also to fill out a survey or performance review from the school that will help the instructor to grade them on their internship. If they have done an especially good job or something that is above and beyond the call of duty, it would also be nice to give them an additional letter of praise on company letterhead to go in their school records (along with a copy they can use as reference in their future job searches.)
