Self-publishing without intent to sell

For my best friends birthday Ive written her a book. Its a large one- 800 pages +I want only 2-3 copies but I want it actually published, printed, hardcover, the whole shebang. But all the self publishing companies Ive found are for printing 1000 copies minimum since they are for wide distribution. I just want to pay for the cost of the book and leave without any extra copies.Have you any of you an idea of how this can be done?
Answer1:You could try a printer rather than a publisher. Even if a high street printer cant do it, s/he will probably know who can.Take a look at the link below and dont be put off by the term "vanity publishing". It means the same as self-publishing.I do know its going to cost you, because the vast majority of the cost of any publishing project is setting it up. The copies themselves dont cost much to produce. You must be a really great friend!
