I see these shows and Ive helped plan two of my friends weddings and I was wondering how you get started? advertising? I guess I should be asking how you start any business?
      Answer1:That field is hard because youll spend more time trying to obtain new business than working in the business. Think about it... When people decided to get married and they want a wedding planner, where do they look? Is it Online? Is it Word of Mouth? Is it some wedding magazine? And remember that weddings are a local affair. So an online ad seen by somebody in Alaska is useless to you if you are doing business in Kansas.Id recommend that if you get into that business, that you work with local catering companies, ministers at churches, event locations, etc.. All the places where people getting married are likely to contact so that those businesses can refer business your way and you work out a referral fee arrangement so its a win-win for both people. Also a contract so that you dont get competition from others looking to ride your coattails.So now when a couple calls the Acme Catering company to feed their wedding of 150 people, the Acme Co. refers the couple to you to handle the planning. Otherwise, just waiting for the phone to ring or word of mouth to find those who just decided to get married will likely yield a business of bankruptcy for you.
