The buyer claims that I lied on the details concerning the keyboards. The seven new keyboards went for $1.04 which is a good deal. I charged him $22 for shipping after he complained that the original cost of $24 for shipping + insurance was too high. He states that Im a fraud and scammer and is acting aggressive. I state that I would refund him only for the item ($1.04) because I already spent the shipping costs and that hell have to ship them back to me. Hes refusing to do this. Stating that I probably stole the keyboards in the first place -when it was really university surplus that was going to be thrown away. The buyer just sent me a second message stating that hell take $15 back and keep the keyboards and donate them to a church. Thats his version of fairness. What should I do to protect myself? Thanks.--Answer1:I suppose the main question is what exactly is wrong with the keyboards. As a seller myself, Im more than happy to give refunds for items that the user doesnt like, but shipping costs are final...which I have clearly printed in the proper area to ensure Im covered..--Answer2:Used items are normally sold as is, and for $1.04 each, your buyer is scammer. You should never selll stolen merchandise, and so his claim of that is very bad, and shows his character. I would tell him the deal was made and he migh like to enjoy his keyboards in any fashion that he likes..--Answer3:no offense but i dont trust ebay the items rearely if ever are what the seller makes them out to be and i have been ripped off twice before from them ...if i do use the site which because of those incidents is never it is best to go through the pay pal way i learned that with my mistakes of trying to trust the hard way .. just adding that detail for anyone who uses the site and read your question and my anwseras for protecting yourself you should have waited and shouldnt have spent any of the money until the deal was settled and you had a positive fed back from the customer ..that way you could have retuned the money and he the key boards with no futher problems ...my advice the right and the fair thing to do is to pay him back his including the money you spent with the shipping since he is not satisfied with the purchase and be done with it .....--Answer4:Ebays terms already protects you.A buyer cant get shipping fees back. Its time to report him.Best of luck to you..--Answer5:So he paid $1.05 for 7 keyboards and is complaining about what? What you do, is offer to refund him his purchase price of $1.05 & shipping IF he ships the keyboards back to you via insured UPS, USPS, whatever. This is how you protect your self because between you, me, and the wall, selling state property on eBay without authorization, even surplus property that you pulled out of dumpster can get you in trouble. Your buyer probably saw the state ID number and figured it was stolen merchandise ~ most people would.
