I have passport and work permit but I havent get my SSN yet.I am looking for a job while taking some classes at community college. Answer1:I dont know if you need a permit in California or not ( all states are different though) but I sell stuff on Ebay all the time and I didnt need one at all. I live in Texas. Craigslist is set to surpass them in the next 12 months. They are gaining much more visitors than ebay because ebay made many changes this year and pushed many powersellers out, which has affected google search results, so less people are finding ebay in google when they search for items. If you want to make money online, there are many other ways like setting up websites and putting ads on your sites so you make money when people click on the ads. Although you might have luck on craigslist which is free. Last year I was making about $6,000 a month and this year I was making only about $200 a month after all the changes. That is small money compared to how much I make from my websites, Google adsense, Yahoo publishers network. I depended on ebay and they changed the rules on everybody this year. They do not want small sellers on there anymore, they want to be like amazon.com because they found out amazon was making much more than they were with bigger sellers, so ebay has signed contracts with companies this year like gm and buy.com so they are slowly getting rid of all small sellers and the smallest of the powersellers. I had to move back to USA because of ebay. Now most of my income comes from my websites so I am moving back to Thailand again. Do not trust ebay. They are a cutthroat business. They have ruined many lives of people who depended on them like a job. You will make a little money maybe, then trust that things will stay the same so you quit your job to focus more time on ebay and build your business, then one day they change everything on you and you are out of business with lots of money and time invested. It is better to set up profitable websites or focus on selling things on a website, then you get to make the rules and nobody can put you out of business. With ebay you are very dependent on them and its not a safe way to do business.
