Is it a good idea to sell on ebay

is it profitable to buy and sell ?????.--Answer1:sure it is..--Answer2:if you have the time and energy and know what your doing then yesgo for itif not try craigslistMUCH easier.--Answer3:Ummm... thats going to depend on what you are selling. If you buy something cheap enough, then sell it for more on ebay, it will be profitable... ?????.--Answer4:i buy and sell a lot on ebay look 4 the power sells they dont let u down.--Answer5:sure! depends on what your selling. To give yourself an idea of what the going price is, try looking up what you have to sell on ebay and see how it does. It will give you an idea of what a ads should look like, what kind of info you need to put in the ad etc. You can also try selling on your local craigslist (www.craigslist.org) it is free to list things, and you will find a local buyer, which means your item will be paid for and picked up more quickly. craigslist limits you to more local buyers, while ebay will let you sell anywhere you want in the world..--Answer6:Good question. Primarily, yes but eBay has become greedy. New members now have to send the sold item and await positive feedback or 28 days with no dispute before Paypal will release the funds to you. Also you have to offer Paypal as an accepted means of payment or you breach eBays rules. If you can deal with that then, yes you will get the best price for your stuff..--Answer7:I have made a few hundred selling on there, mostly CDs (new and used), vinyl records, and DVDs. Really watch the rating of those to whom you are selling or from whom you are buying. Now and then, you encounter some jerks that give you undeserved feedback, but Ive had a genuinely positive experience about 95% of the time.In order to start selling, you will want to get your positive feedback score at 95% or, ideally, 100%, and if you have never bought from eBay, you wont have any score at all. That can make it very difficult to get anyone to buy from you! So I started out by buying things, paying quickly, and giving the sellers positive feedback, and I got positive feedback in return, which gave me a good score. Then I started selling. :)Oh, and really do read eBays guidelines on posting and their tips on how to sell. Very useful, especially if this is your first time buying and selling online..--Answer8:In my opinion, eBay is still the best place where you can buy and sell with least efforts. Im not making a lot of money because I have to compete with tons of other sellers and eBay fees are very high. I also try to sell at Overstock but they dont have that many people. The only good thing is that they charge a lot less than eBay..--Answer9:Yeah it is...but you have to learn how to protect yourself as a seller and how to make the most money and not get screwed by anybody.Go to ultimateguidetointernetbusiness.com. Its a guide that teaches you all about internet business, how to get started, and how to protect yourself. I bought it based on a recommendation and I learned so much. The best thing about it is that they dont use affiliate marketing, so you dont have to worry that someones just trying to make a commission sale and thats why theyre getting you to buy it...its the real thing.I learned how to sell on ebay, how to protect myself as a seller, how to deal with paypal and payment options, and how to get items to sell that are good quality and low cost.go check it out, youll love it.--Answer10:Yes it is, Ive done it many times. In fact 5 years ago I was top 10 biggest sellers in toys and hobbies department. Had 7 employees. Ive answered a couple other peoples questions in regards to Ebay, I usually end up running out of room so Id like to keep this short. In summary, its a marketplace where everybody goes to buy and sell. Its a market where millions of people gather to wheel and deal. Of course theres money to be made! You just need to know which market to get into. And that market would be whatever interests you. Or if you want to keep up with todays conditions, Nintendo Wii has been a hot product. Sport cards for example are not anymore as they used to be. So keep up with current trends, find a product you know a lot of people are into. My sister used to have a business selling rings. Pretty simple, purchase the rings in bulk like 50 rings for $100 ($2 each). And they would auction off for between $1 and $20 (not all would sell though). So she doubles her money. And she had thousands of rings. In fact, I got her into this 5 years ago as she is paralyzed so it was a good income for her at the time.I can help you become successful at this Im trying to remember exactly what I told the other questioners. But its about purchasing in bulk, breaking a product down, etc. My sister purchased in bulk and made a profit. My business was selling collectible trading cards and I classify that as a "breakdown" as I would purchase the cards by the case. Open the case for 6 boxes. Open the boxes for 36 packs, And open the packs for 15 cards. By selling the cards individually, larger profits are to be made. Another way of going about it is purchasing collections. For example, you can buy somebodys Nintendo Wii collection. A Nintendo Wii + 20 games for $500 lets say. You can sell the Wii for $300 and get on average $20 for each game so thats a $200 profit. Profit is made here because there are more people wanting to buy a specific video game, rather than an entire collection. So more bids and competition will come on a single unit. Ebay functions as a storefront for you to run your business. You advertise your product to hundreds or thousands of viewers and you have to pay a fee for using their service. PAYPAL is an online third party payment processor which is now an Ebay company. Open an account with them as you will receive many more bids by accepting paypal. This allows people to purchase your product with credit / debit and pay you instantly online rather than waiting a week to mail you a money order. Paypal also implies a fee for each money transfer you receive. Between Ebay and Paypal fees, depending on the price of your products, they will take an average of 8%. More if your items are cheap (under $20), less if they are more expensive (over $100). But you can reduce these fees in a couple of ways. With Ebay, you can charge extra for shipping (it might cost you $2 to actually ship the itembut put a $3 shipping tag on it). You can reduce fees at Paypal by the amount of money you bring in through them per month. I think it ranges between 2.1% and 2.9%. You can auction your items on Ebay, or place a "Buy It Now" on them which is a fixed price you are wanting for your item. Through auction, you will receive a lot of competition, people love bidding on items to try to receive it at a lower price so a bidding war can happen between a couple people. And if one of them gets outbid, they would say to themself, well its just another 50 cents so theyll put in a higher bid so on and so forth. Auctions receive a lot of attention and can sometimes auction off at more than your asking price. I also want to mention that with todays economy, less people have money to spend. I have seen this EVERYWHERE. My original dealer I purchased my card cases from I spoke to him a couple months ago in fact. I asked how he was doing, he said well due to the economy, sales have slowed. So the market isnt booming as it used to be. Ive wanted to get back into Ebay and after analyzing the market, profit wasnt to be made on these trading cards anymore! MAYBE 5% weekly but thats too little for me. I used to turn 10 - 20% 5 years ago. For example, you purchase $1,000 in product, auction it for 3 days, receive payment within 4 days, auction the same product again the same day the folowing week. So thats $50 a week for every $1,000 I invest. How many hours would I have to put in? Probably 10 so were looking at $5 an hour =/. A few years ago I was going through $35,000 a week in merchandise. At 15% ROI this equals $5250 weekly profit. 7 people working 20 hours a week = 140 hours I paid them $10 an hour ... I was making $3500 a week easy. But I put in 60+ hours a week. Still good money. So that bring sme to my next point ...It will be a lot of fun but it will be very stressful. Being your own boss, managing, resourcing, analyzing, it keeps you busy but you develop a love for you business as you want it to grow. I grew my business from I think it was between $3,000 - $5,000 start up merchandise into $35,000 weekly in 6 months. Watching it grow like that, expanding yourself, hiring people, its a lot of fun having it grow like that. Youll be purchasing fax machines, tables, storage, computers, I had to purchase a "company" vehicle. Put ads in the newspaper, make deals with people online, develop strong customer relations. It depends how far you want to take it. There will be a limit mind you. Space and work will be your two culprits. Theres only so much you can handle in 1 week. And theres only so much space your house can offer.Know that "it takes money to make money". So know your start up funds, do some research and estimate what your profits may be. If you want it to be a small part time thing youll make an extra $100 or $200 a week on your own. Unless youre selling cars lol. Depends how serious you want to be about it. Its a great oppurtunity. But if you dont want it to be a business venture you can sell anything and I recommend you sell your "junk" and garage items on ebay. My cousin just sold her sons Nintendo Wii to my sister for $100! If you find deals like that and have an Ebay account, I could have easily sold that for $250. I wanted it to turn a profit but shes giving it to her daughter for christmas. So yeah, find some equitable items lying around and get whatever you can for them. You can profit through shipping. If you have a broken chainsaw in the garage there for 3 years, if it auctions for $5, your shipping is $15, costs you $10 to ship, you got $10 for it. I dont know what the prices are of chainsaws but thats just an example of making $5 on shipping lol.But YES honestly, you will be much more happy having items up on Ebay. Cause every morning you wake up first thing you do is see if any bids came in lol. Youll see more bids everyday and it feels like money is growing in your pocket every morning. Whatever you do sell, take that money and put it to good use, please. I say this because too often people dont know what to do with money. Im sort of a guru and have been successful the past 6 years having money work for me. I havent worked a job since I was 17 (Im 24 now). Everything I do is at home on the computer. As I have researched so many ways of making easy money. Take my word for it, Ebay is one of them. Start something new and give it a try =)
