My daughter opened a florist business recently. She had a business plan and worked with SCORE at a local college. SCORE are business people who donate their time to give advice and help to new businesses. This has been her second year in business and she has been very successful but she could never have done it without the help she got from SCORE. And she talked to lots of bankers about different kinds of loans and had to learn a lot about computers to get a bookkeeping system for her business to use on the computer. And that was not the half of it. It helps if a person has some kind of business background so they know about hiring people and firing people and setting up a file system, etc..
