Ive been doing graphic design for a local business for the past ten months. At the end of each project, my client asks me to send her the original files so she can make some "corrections". However, when I see the final product its always different from what I first created. Why cant she just tell me the corrections that need to be made so I can do it?? It really bothers me and considering that Im way underpaid, I just feel like Im being taken advantage of. I need to know if this is legal. Also, can anyone hook me up with some business talk so I can sound professional when confronting her with this?.--Answer1:As long as youre being paid for the work and you dont have a copywrite to it, the client can do pretty much whatever they want with the finished product..--Answer2:Yes, she has every right to alter this work. Shes paying you to create something for her and she reserves the right to change it. Now, if you feel that youre underpaid, maybe shes taking advantage of you, by having you start and do the bulk of the work (and paying you very little for it), then making little changes herself. It really does sound like shes taking advantage of you by having you lay down the ground work. If this is the case, perhaps you need to reevaluate why youre even working for this person in the first place. Good Luck.
